Airfield cautions
Airfield data: Pooleys EGNH plates. Not a substitute for the UK AIP / NOTAMs.
Transcribed from Yorkshire Aviation Academy PA28-161 Checklist V2.03 (page ). Refer to the aircraft POH. hints are generic PA-28 aids, not from the checklist — confirm on G-BORL. Keys: Space/→ check · ← undo · R repeat.
Fill-ins
Schematic, not to scale — works with no signal.
Satellite view numbered points = where to make each call
Esri World Imagery (needs signal first time; cached after). Circuit line computed from the ARP, runway 274°T, ~1 nm spacing — illustrative only.
Call points
Numbered points are COMPUTED (illustrative, ~1 nm from the runway). Tall Tower is the Pooleys VRP. Fly the circuit ATC gives you.
TRAINING AID ONLY — tablet sensors are not an attitude reference. Never fly by this.
Route planner any UK / Irish airfield · fuel stops · alternates · PLOG · brief
Airfields: OurAirports (public domain) + UK eAIP AD 2.3/2.4 (hours, fuel types) rebuilt daily on the AeroNav server. Winds: Open-Meteo. METAR/TAF: api.met.no. NOTAMs: NATS contingency PIB. Fuel prices: no live UK feed exists — enter what the airfield quotes; prices older than 90 days are flagged. Planning aid only: check the AIP, NOTAMs, PPR and an official briefing.
Weather
Briefing official sources · needs signal
Go / No-go your personal minimums vs EGNH METAR
Blank = not checked. Crosswind default 17 kt = YAA max demonstrated (not a limit). CAUTION = within 20% of a limit (technique). Ceiling = lowest BKN/OVC/VV.
PLOG
Tracks from coordinates (great circle, initial). Burn 8 USG/h (YAA). Legal night = sunset +30 min to sunrise −30 min (UK ANO 2016 Sch 1), NOAA sun maths. Route points beyond Pooleys VRPs are from v1, UNVERIFIED.
Fuel USG · 8 USG/h
Reserves: CAA SafetySense 05 — minimum final reserve 30 min day, 45 min night, 10 min day local in sight of the aerodrome (Auto = 45 if the ETA is in legal night). Usable 48 USG, tabs 34 USG, 3.785 L/USG. Taxi allowance is technique. Endurance goes to the PAD for the book-out call. Live remaining burns from off-blocks.
Crosswind — RWY 28 / 10
METAR wind is TRUE; runway QDM is MAGNETIC — converted with the variation above. Default 0°: WMM2025 gives ≈0° at EGNH for 2026 (editable).
E6B
Wind = air vector (HDG/TAS) minus ground vector (TRK/GS). TAS = IAS/√σ (ISA). GPS track is TRUE.
Mass & Balance kg / m, YAA sheet arms
| Mass kg | Arm m | Moment |
|---|
Arms from YAA checklist p2. Empty mass 683.2 kg @ 2.220 m, MTOW 1055 kg and the CG envelope (fwd 2.110 m → 2.210 m @ 1055 kg, aft 2.360 m) come from your SkyDemon G-BORL profile — check them against the current weight & balance schedule.
Performance PA / DA · SafetySense 07
Read the distance from G-BORL's POH chart, then tick only the factors that chart doesn't already include. Factors multiply (CAA SafetySense 07). Elevation and runway length fill from airports.js for the take-off (departure) or landing (destination) field — both editable. PA from QNH via ISA; DA exact (rule of thumb shown).
Auto flight logger
GPS logging failed or off? Tap a time to enter it yourself (HH:MM UTC) — shown as pilot-entered.
Off-blocks >3 kt (5 s) · Takeoff >45 kt (3 s) · Touchdown <40 kt (5 s) · On-blocks <1 kt for 60 s. GPS ground speed — start GPS on the Map tab. Fuel = block time × 8.0 USG/h. "New flight" saves this one and resets all checklists.
Currency
UK Part-FCL FCL.060(b)(1): 3 take-offs and landings in the preceding 90 days in the same type/class to carry passengers. Counts only flights saved here with “New flight” — your logbook is the record. Night (FCL.060(b)(2)) not tracked.

Display
Display theme
The header Night button switches between Night and the day theme chosen here. Night switches instantly; Day ↔ Dark fades briefly on the ground.
Motion
Off removes non-essential animation (button press, tab slide, sheets, theme fade, check confirm). Your device's “reduce motion” setting is always obeyed. Operational numbers never animate.
Voice
Automatic speech: FREDA, tank change, carb-ice prompt in a descent, and “One mile: stable, or go around”. Routine prompts are held while you are airborne within 3 nm of an airfield and dropped if stale; the one-mile call is never held. Off silences all of them — tones and vibration stay, and the read-aloud buttons still speak.
About & sources
AeroNav 2.1
- Checklists and V-speeds: Yorkshire Aviation Academy PA28-161 Checklist V2.03 (transcribed; refer to the aircraft POH).
- EGNH: Pooleys plates; other airfields: airports.js (each with sources, checked date, confidence) and the route-planner directory (OurAirports + UK eAIP AD 2).
- Weather: api.met.no (METAR/TAF), Open-Meteo (winds aloft). NOTAMs: NATS contingency PIB via the AeroNav server — aid only, not the official briefing.
- Fuel prices without a source are unverified estimates; only pilot-entered or URL-sourced prices are confirmed.
- Map: OpenStreetMap / Esri imagery, cached as viewed. Fonts: B612 Mono (SIL OFL 1.1). Icons: Lucide (ISC). Map library: Leaflet.
Planning and training aid — not an authorisation to fly and not a certified instrument. The UK AIP, NOTAMs, the aircraft POH and ATC govern.

Same as the button in the header. Checklists, V-speeds and the W&B envelope are the YAA PA-28-161 V2.03 only.
Data & offline
Offline flight pack: not saved yet
Saves on this device the copies the app already holds for this flight: route, PLOG, checklist progress, airfield and PPR info for the route fields, weather and NOTAM snapshots (with their times) and the planning brief. Fetch weather and NOTAMs with signal first — nothing is refreshed while offline, so check the ages.
Always offline (installed app): app shell, checklists, the Manual index (YAA PA28-161 Checklist V2.03 + Blackpool guide), EGNH data and airports.js.
Android app
Keeps the tablet screen on while AeroNav is in front. GPS logging keeps running with the screen off either way (notification “AeroNav logging flight”).
Everything in the app works with no signal (bundled in the APK). Only live feeds need internet: METAR/TAF, winds aloft, NOTAMs, airfield directory refresh, aircraft look-up, AI brief, map tiles not viewed before. Last copies are used offline.
Questions are generated only from the YAA V2.03 checklist — nothing invented. Proficiency-check prep: say each drill aloud before revealing.
